Hot Records

HOT was hatched in 1982 at the back of Darlinghurst's Didgeridoo Records Shop (just near the infamous Kings Cross district!), and released its first album, The Celibate Rifles' "SIDEROXYLON", on April 1, 1983. Hot's interest was in creating an independent music company operating worldwide, yet based in Sydney.

HOT became home to The Celibate Rifles, The Laughing Clowns, The Lighthouse Keepers, The Triffids and Wet Taxis... trailblazed the world / new age / jazz music of the 1980's with Chris Abrahams, The Benders, Gondwanaland and Jon Rose.... and pioneered contemporary Aboriginal music with the Warumpi Band and Coloured Stone.... there was a 'comeback' album from Bo Diddley.... We started the Australian Independent Charts.... and opened up in England, creating a unique European network now over 10 years old, which was extended in 1994 into the USA and Canada.

HOT has guided the career of the remarkable Ed Kuepper for almost a decade and has indeed, despite the madness, become that Modern, International and Independent Management/ Publishing/ Record Company.

This year has seen the introduction of The Apartments and The Deadly Nightshades.... taken Ed Kuepper further to the world.... and, with a bit of luck, we'll be here next year !
