Pink Noise Test

Pink Noise Test added an edgy rock buzz to candy-coated '60s pop, drenching it with white noise and feedback. Their punk undertones should come as no surprise, considering the band members' history: guitarist Kirk Hellie and drummer Peter Kelley had previously played in the Steve Jones Band, lead by Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols. Along with vocalist Lawrence Glass and bassist Michael Hill, the group issued the five-song Electric Train EP in 1996. Shortly after the release of Plasticized, a full-length debut that did fairly well on the college charts, the band called it quits. Hellie pursued several other projects, such as Purr Machine, which includes Kelley on drums.
